Tuition exemption and reduction for students of 5 medical majors
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan has just approved the Project "Encouraging training and development of medical human resources in the fields of tuberculosis, leprosy, psychiatry, forensic medicine and pathology in the period 2013-2020". Accordingly, tuition fees will be exempted or reduced for students studying the above 5 majors.

According to the Project, by 2020, about 2,500 human resources will be trained in the above 5 sectors. Of which, 30 will have doctoral degrees; 30 will have master's degrees; 170 will have level 2 specialist doctors; 570 will have level 1 specialist doctors; 1,500 will have specialized general practitioners; 200 will have bachelor's degrees in technical testing specialized in pathology and forensic medicine.
The total number of human resources is distributed as follows: Tuberculosis specialist: 250 staff; leprosy specialist: 550; psychiatry specialist: 600; forensic specialist: 550; pathology specialist: 550.
To implement this Project, in addition to prioritizing investment, building training programs and compiling teaching materials, investing in and upgrading laboratories, preclinical practices and clinical training facilities... medical schools will prioritize entrance exam scores and maintain the joint training regime for students studying the above majors; prioritize entrance exams and admission conditions for students taking entrance exams for residency, level 1 specialty, level 2 specialty, master's and doctoral degrees.
In particular, tuition fees are exempted or reduced for all types of training for students studying the above majors.
