Tuition exemption and reduction for majors in Tuberculosis, Leprosy, Psychiatry, Forensic Medicine, Pathology

The project "Encouraging training and development of medical human resources in the fields of Tuberculosis, Leprosy, Psychiatry, Forensic Medicine and Pathology for the period 2013 - 2020" was approved by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan.approveWith the goal of training medical human resources in the Project's specialties by 2020, the estimated number of people trained is 2,500.

Of which, 30 have PhD degrees; 30 have master's degrees; 170 have level 2 specialists; 570 have level 1 specialists; 1,500 general practitioners with specialized orientation; 200 have bachelor's degrees in technical testing with specialized orientation in pathology and forensic medicine.

The total number of human resources is allocated as follows: Tuberculosis specialist 250; Leprosy specialist 550; Psychiatry specialist 600; Forensic specialist 550; Pathology specialist 550.

The project also sets the target that 90-100% of central hospitals, institutes and training facilities, 70-90% of provincial hospitals, institutes and training facilities have enough human resources in the fields of Tuberculosis, Leprosy, Psychiatry, Forensic Medicine, Pathology; 50-70% of district hospitals have enough human resources in the fields of Tuberculosis, Leprosy, and Psychiatry.

To achieve the above goal, one of the solutions of the Project is to prioritize entrance exam scores and maintain the joint training regime for students studying the above majors; prioritize entrance exams and admission conditions for students taking entrance exams for residency, level 1 specialties, level 2 specialties, masters, and doctorates.

At the same time, tuition fees are exempted or reduced for all types of training for students studying the above majors.

Prioritize investment and upgrading of laboratories, pre-clinical practices and clinical training facilities, creating opportunities for learners to access new techniques and technologies.

Prioritize investment, develop training programs and compile teaching materials for majors at all levels and types of training, ensuring quality and meeting the training needs of majors in the integration and development period.

The project also provides solutions to ensure that medical human resources in the specialties under the project work effectively, long-term and sustainably at medical facilities nationwide.
