Rally in response to World Environment Day and International Year of Sustainable Energy

(Baonghean.vn) -This morning, June 5, in Cua Lo town, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee organized a rally to respond to World Environment Day 2012 with the theme "Green Economy - Your Role" and the International Year of Sustainable Energy. Attending the rally were Mr. Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of provincial departments, branches, and sectors, districts, cities, and towns; along with a large number of armed forces and people from all walks of life in Cua Lo town.

World Environment Day (June 5) is an annual global environmental event that calls on the world community to act and join hands to protect the environment and combat climate change. World Environment Day 2012 has the theme "Green Economy - Your Role" and 2012 is also the International Year of Sustainable Energy. At the rally this morning, on behalf of the Provincial People's Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong delivered a speech and called on all levels, sectors, unions, social organizations, businesses and people in the province to act now to protect the environment, develop sustainably, and move towards a green economy.

The immediate task is to focus on promoting and diversifying forms of propaganda, education, raising awareness, creating voluntary habits of all organizations and individuals in using energy economically, protecting the environment, and responding to climate change. Propagating and raising awareness of the role of the green economy in socio-economic development associated with sustainable development. Continue to effectively implement the program of using energy economically, using natural resources economically and rationally; limit the use of non-renewable energy sources such as coal, oil, etc. Research, propose solutions and build models to support businesses in using energy efficiently and economically. Prioritize the selection of environmentally friendly technologies to invest in Nghe An. Improve the effectiveness of natural resource - environmental management, energy management. Integrate environmental protection issues, responding to climate change, rising sea levels in the planning of sectors, fields and localities. Promote the implementation and handling of pressing environmental issues in the province.

Immediately after the launching ceremony, students participated in environmental protection activities.

After the rally, the leaders of the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Natural Resources and Environment presented Cua Lo Town with 70 public trash bins; organized the release of doves and shrimp and fish fry into the sea. Armed forces and youth union members of Cua Lo Town participated in collecting trash and cleaning up Cua Lo Beach.

Also this morning, June 5, at the Vietnam - Korea Industrial Economics Vocational College, the Launching Ceremony to Respond to World Environment Day, June 5, took place. Attending were representatives of several provincial departments and branches, Korean volunteers and 1,500 students.

Vietnam-Korea Vocational College of Technology awarded prizes in the Environmental Photo Contest

June 5th is chosen by the United Nations as World Environment Day to call on every individual, community and business around the world to join hands and contribute their responsibility to protecting the environment and building a new economic model - green economy. 2012 also marks the 40th anniversary of World Environment Day.

At the launching ceremony, the Organizing Committee called on everyone to actively participate in responding to World Environment Day with practical actions.

Students of Vietnam-Korea Vocational College of Technology view an exhibition of environmental photos

On this occasion, the Vietnam-Korea Vocational College of Technology summarized and awarded prizes for the environmental photo contest; issued regulations banning smoking in schools.

After the launching ceremony, teachers and students of the school organized a general cleaning in and around the school to create a green, clean and beautiful space and landscape.
