Solemn meeting to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the 35th anniversary of the signing of the Laos-Vietnam Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation

(Baonghean.vn) -This morning, July 18, Xieng Khouang province (Lao PDR) held a solemn meeting to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the 35th anniversary of the signing of the Laos-Vietnam Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation. Comrade Phan Dinh Trac - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation led the delegation of Nghe An province to attend the ceremony.

The speech at the ceremony by Comrade Duong-Chit-Chang-Xay-Vang, Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Deputy Governor of Xieng Khouang Province, affirmed: In the history of international relations up to now, the special relationship between Vietnam - Laos, Laos - Vietnam is a typical example of the strong, loyal, pure and effective bond between the two nations, the struggle for independence, freedom, and social progress of the two peoples, built and nurtured by President Ho Chi Minh and President Kaysone Phomvihane. Inheriting that tradition, over the past 50 years, the two parties, the two states and the people of Vietnam - Laos in general, and the two provinces of Xieng Khouang - Nghe An in particular, have continuously strengthened and consolidated their solidarity, despite having to go through many difficulties and challenges. Nowadays, that sentiment is increasingly being cared for and nurtured, to bring the friendship and special cooperative relationship between the two provinces and the two countries of Vietnam and Laos to a new height. In recent times, Xieng Khouang province has received much support and cooperation from Nghe An province in all areas such as education, health care, economic development investment, and strengthening national defense and security. Xieng Khouang province and Laos always appreciate the precious sentiments that the Party Committee, government and people of Nghe An, the Party, State and people of Vietnam have for Xieng Khouang province and Laos, both in the struggle to defend the Fatherland and in the current peaceful construction of the country.

On this occasion, on behalf of the leaders of Nghe An province, comrade Phan Dinh Trac - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee awarded a certificate of merit from the Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province to the Party Committee, government and people of Xieng Khouang province, and personally comrade Xom-Kot-Mang-No-Mech - Member of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Secretary and Governor of Xieng Khouang province for his outstanding achievements in implementing relations and diplomacy between Xieng Khouang province and Nghe An province.

Previously, on the morning of July 17, the Nghe An delegation held talks with the Xieng Khouang provincial delegation led by Comrade Xom-Kot-Mang-No-Mech - Member of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Provincial Governor.

At the meeting, the delegations of the two provinces informed each other about the socio-economic development, national defense and security in 2011 and the first 6 months of 2012, and the results achieved in the coordination work. Accordingly, the two provinces of Nghe An and Xieng Khouang have done a good job in ensuring border security, organizing the search and exhumation of martyrs' remains and organizing cultural, artistic and sports activities on the occasion of the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Year 2012.

In particular, in the spirit of cooperation for mutual development, the two provinces have also created favorable conditions for businesses to invest and exploit the potential and strengths of each locality. In 2012, the work of searching for, excavating and bringing the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Laos back to Vietnam for burial. The work of increasing the density and embellishing national border markers continued to be directed by the two provinces.

Regarding the content of cooperation in the last months of 2012 and the following years, the two provinces agreed to increase investment and cooperation, create conditions for business development; promote trade exploitation, upgrade some border routes to build secondary border gates, expand border market activities to enhance exchange and trade of goods, develop tourism and services, and contribute to promoting economic growth of each province. Within the framework of the talks, Nghe An province agreed to support Xieng Khouang province with nearly 2 million USD to build a cultural house; support training of high-quality human resources and students to study at some colleges and universities in the province; Xieng Khouang province will also help train some quotas for Vietnamese students to study Lao culture and language. In addition, the two sides also agreed on the exchange and learning of experiences between agencies, units, departments, branches and sectors at the provincial level to strengthen the friendly cooperative relationship.

On this occasion, on behalf of the leaders of Nghe An province, comrade Phan Dinh Trac respectfully invited comrade Xom-Kot-Mang-No-Mech and the delegation of Xieng Khouang province to visit Nghe An at a suitable time.
