The start of an unfortunate "chain reaction"!

(Baonghean) - China's establishment of an "air defense zone" (AZID) can be seen as a "disruptive" move, pushing the world's political chessboard into a confrontational stalemate, with a high risk of conflict.

This action not only denies China’s “diplomatic language” that it is “rising peacefully”, but also has the potential to create an extremely bad precedent: Following China’s “air defense zone”, there will be “air defense zones” of other countries. If this becomes a reality, it would be an unnecessary step backward in the history of humanity’s struggle for peace, because the “air defense zone” is also an obstacle, a manifestation that goes against the current trend of globalization. The world is indeed going from one surprise to another when there is information that South Korea may complete the establishment of an air defense zone on December 3.

Upon receiving the above information, surely anyone would immediately think that if China did not establish an “air defense zone”, there would be no reason for South Korea to quickly establish an air defense identification zone for South Korea, especially since China’s “air defense zone” is said to have a direct impact on the airspace under South Korea’s declared sovereignty. On some media on December 2, South Korean officials publicly announced that the country had basically completed the plan to establish a new air defense zone including an ocean research station built in the southern island area.

Not only that, the plan to establish a new air defense identification zone of South Korea may be approved as early as December 3 after a meeting of President Park Geun-hye and government officials. This is really a very quick reaction of South Korea because the entire response plan of this country was basically completed just one week after China announced the establishment of an air defense identification zone.

Taking full advantage of the US's close alliance in the Asia-Pacific region, South Korea has recently taken strong steps in protecting its sovereignty and political position in the international arena. Therefore, without hiding its opposition to a "fierce" rising China, on December 1, senior South Korean officials discussed ways to expand the country's air defense zone to include the Marado and Hongdo islands as well as the ocean research station in Ieodo - a reef area located in the overlapping exclusive economic zones of South Korea and China.

“The concept of the new air defense identification zone has been finalized. The government will announce the plan after carefully considering issues related to military operations, aviation safety, and international regulations,” a South Korean government official said. South Korean media also reported that the draft of the new Korean Air Defense Identification Zone (KADIZ) will be finalized after a meeting between the President and senior government officials scheduled for December 3. South Korean Defense Ministry spokesman Kim Min-seok also confirmed the move, adding that the government will decide “what best suits the national interest.”

Thus, if this action becomes true, it will be further evidence that China has made a bad move, with more harm than good, unworthy of its position as a major power because it not only fails to demonstrate its role in the peace and development process of the region but also goes against it. Analysts have been very reasonable in saying that if South Korea's plan to establish a new air defense identification zone becomes a reality, the situation in the region will become even more tense. What an unnecessary "chain reaction"!
