Creative volunteer model of rural youth

(Baonghean.vn) - The 'Volunteer Heart' Club brings together enthusiastic rural youth in Dien Quang and Dien Chau for volunteer activities and has carried out many practical activities for the community.

"In Dien Quang commune, there are still many poor families that need help and sharing from the community" - Mr. Tang Van Luc - Secretary of Dien Quang commune Youth Union always worries about the desire to establish a volunteer club to raise funds and help the poor people in his hometown.

The idea was shared by the commune’s Youth Union Secretary on Facebook and received enthusiastic support from the youth union members. People who share the same passion for volunteering have gathered under the common roof of “Volunteer Heart”.

When it was first established (May 2016), with only 6 members, the club organized a number of charity activities within Dien Quang commune.

Once a week, the Club organizes a visit and presents gifts to a poor family, a policy family, or a Vietnamese Heroic Mother in the commune. The families in difficult circumstances are neighbors and acquaintances of the Club members who have been enthusiastically helped and supported. Although the fund is still limited, the young people still help people with practical actions, from cleaning the house, gardening, helping with housework, etc.

Each member of the Club believes that "happiness is sharing", so they contribute to charity activities with the enthusiasm and passion of youth. Those noble acts are increasingly spreading and connecting more and more sympathetic hearts. Therefore, the Club's membership is increasing, up to now there are over 60 participants.

To create funds, the club has mobilized contributions from members, called on benefactors and businesses, and organized many activities such as calling for donations of old clothes, collecting scrap metal, selling goods online, and club members have also organized charity car washes. The practical and meaningful activities of the young people have received enthusiastic contributions and support from union members, youth and local people.

After nearly a year of establishment, with a benevolent heart and youthful enthusiasm, the "Volunteer Heart" Club has organized many meaningful and practical activities: Calling for support for floods in the Central region in 2016, worth over 15 million VND. Club members also regularly mobilize donations of old clothes and organize many trips to give gifts to people in mountainous areas; Organize porridge cooking for poor patients at hospitals such as Quynh Luu leprosy hospital, Dien Chau General Hospital; Clean up coastal areas and public places such as pagodas and temples; visit and give gifts to poor families, depending on the family's circumstances...

Sharing about this special charity model, comrade Le Viet Dung - Secretary of Dien Chau District Youth Union said: "The activities of the "Volunteer Heart" Club of Dien Quang commune show the creativity and social responsibility of union members and young people. This is a good model and an effective and practical way to help many families and people in difficult circumstances; creating motivation to help them rise up in life. In the coming time, the district youth union will continue to replicate this meaningful volunteer model for the community in the area, in order to spread noble actions and gestures among young people.
