Pink banana growing model in Que Phong
(Baonghean) In September 2011, the Rural Development Board of Que Phong district implemented a model of growing red bananas in Tong Cang village, Tien Phong commune. The model was deployed on an area of 2 hectares, with 22 households participating.
Before planting, families attended a training course on techniques for planting and caring for pink bananas. If well cared for, after 1 year, they can achieve 80-90 tons of fruit/ha, with economic efficiency reaching 150-200 million VND. Currently, the bananas are growing well and have produced bunches. The purpose of the model is to diversify commercial crops in Que Phong.
Growing pink bananas is not difficult. This plant is suitable for many types of soil, but the best is alluvial soil, light loam, or sandy soil mixed with many colors. The hole is 40 cm deep, 40 cm long, 40 cm wide. The distance between holes is from 2 - 2.5 m. Fertilizer for one hole in one year includes 20 - 25 kg of decomposed manure, 0.8 - 1 kg of nitrogen, 1 - 1.5 kg of phosphorus and 2 - 3 kg of potassium. That amount of fertilizer is divided into 3 parts to fertilize 3 times a year. The first time is 1 - 1.5 months after planting, the second time is 1 - 2 months after the first time and the third time is 2 - 3 months after the second time. After fertilizing, weed and loosen the soil around the banana tree. When the banana tree has a bunch of bananas for 15 - 20 days, you can use a white nylon bag to cover the bunch to limit pests and diseases.
