Free eye surgery for over 1,000 poor patients
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of May 21, at Vinh City General Hospital, the Provincial Red Cross Association coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City Association for the Support of Poor Patients, Dam Hoa Pagoda, and the medical team of Nguyen Trai Hospital (Ho Chi Minh City) to organize a free eye examination and surgery for 1,000 poor patients in 8 districts in the province. The above funding was provided by the Charity Association.
The program launch ceremony was attended by a team of doctors from Nguyen Trai Hospital, representatives of the Ho Chi Minh City Association for the Support of Poor Patients, monks from Dam Hoa Pagoda (Ho Chi Minh City), the Red Cross of the province, Vinh City, and many poor patients in Vinh City and neighboring districts who need eye surgery this time.
Many poor patients get free eye surgery
Previously, the delegation organized screening examinations for over 1,400 poor patients with eye problems across the province, and performed free surgery for about 1,000 patients. For remote areas, the delegation will plan to visit the site to reduce travel costs for patients. After receiving medical examination, health consultation, and free eye surgery, the patients were also given gifts including medicine and milk by the delegation. At the eye surgery locations, at noon, patients and their families will be given free vegetarian meals organized by Dam Hoa Pagoda.
In Vinh City, 120 patients from Vinh City and Dien Chau will undergo surgery. Previously, on May 20, in Quy Hop District, the team examined 739 cases and performed surgery on 219 cases, all of which were successful.
