Opening of the appeal trial of the case of activities aimed at overthrowing the people's government
(Baonghean.vn) -This morning (May 23), at the headquarters of the People's Court of Nghe An province, the Supreme People's Court of Appeal in Hanoi opened an appeal trial of the criminal case of Ho Duc Hoa and the defendants on the charge of "Activities aimed at overthrowing the people's government".
Previously, on January 8 and 9, 2013, at the headquarters of Nghe An Provincial People's Court, the first instance criminal case was publicly tried.against defendant Ho Duc Hoa and 14 other accomplices for the crime of "Activities aimed at overthrowing the people's government" as prescribed in Article 79 - Penal Code.
The judge questioned the defendants at the trial.

At the first instance trial, the Trial Panel clarified the defendants' criminal acts. After deliberation, the Trial Panel sentenced the defendants for the crime of "Activities aimed at overthrowing the people's government", and sentenced the defendants Ho Duc Hoa, Dang Xuan Dieu, and Le Van Son to 13 years in prison each; sentenced the defendant Nguyen Dang Minh Man to 8 years in prison; sentenced the defendants Nguyen Van Oai, Nguyen Van Duyet, Nguyen Dinh Cuong, Tran Minh Nhat, and Thai Van Dung to 4 years in prison each; sentenced the defendants Nong Hung Anh, Dang Ngoc Minh, Nguyen Xuan Anh, and Ho Van Oanh to 3 years in prison each; and sentenced the defendant Nguyen Dang Vinh Phuc to 3 years in prison but with a suspended sentence. In addition, the defendants must also serve additional sentences and be placed on probation for 2 to 5 years from the date of completion of the main sentence.
After the end of the first instance trial, the defendants who filed appeals and requested sentence reductions were brought to trial at today's appeal hearing, including: Nguyen Dinh Cuong, Le Van Son, Tran Minh Nhat, Thai Van Dung, Ho Van Oanh, Nguyen Xuan Anh, Ho Duc Hoa, and Nguyen Van Duyet.
