Expanding and innovating people-to-people diplomacy activities

(Baonghean.vn) -This morning, May 23, in Vinh City, the Nghe An Union of Friendship Organizations (UFO) held its 4th Congress, term 2012-2017. Attending the Congress on the Central side were the Standing Committee of the Vietnam UFO, on the Nghe An province side were comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and representatives of provincial departments, branches, sectors and organizations.

During the past term (2006-2011), as the agency in charge of people's foreign affairs, Nghe An People's Council actively consolidated and expanded international relations, adding many new partners and new relations with ASEAN countries, Northeast Asian countries and some Northwest European countries - places with strong economic potential and modern science and technology.

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong presented a banner from the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee to the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Association.

Up to now, the Provincial Association of Vietnamese Women's Unions has established friendly and cooperative relations with over 20 provinces and cities of 8 countries, strengthened relations with a number of foreign embassies in Vietnam, with representative offices of a number of international organizations, relations with 30 foreign non-governmental organizations and many associations of fellow countrymen, Nghe An people working, living and studying abroad, including Vietnamese ambassadors in other countries.

In addition to the above bilateral activities, the Provincial LHCTCHN also pays attention to establishing foreign relations with a number of multilateral civil organizations and other international organizations such as the Association of French-speaking countries, the Association of European and Asian Cities, participating in forums of mass organizations in the ASEAN bloc, participating in the friendly exchange of 8 provinces of Road 8 Southern Laos... The activities of the Provincial LHCTCHN are increasingly innovated in the direction of focusing on political diplomacy content, linking participation in exploiting economic resources.

In the coming term, the Nghe An Union of Friendship Organizations will closely follow the Party and State's foreign policy guidelines and guidelines under the motto of multilateralization and diversification of international relations with the spirit that Vietnam wants to be a friend and reliable partner of all countries in the world community, deeply integrating into the economy, striving for peace, independence and development; closely linking the promotion of movement activities with the building of a strong Union organization to carry out the set political tasks, actively contributing to improving the effectiveness of the province's foreign affairs, thereby contributing to creating a favorable environment for the renovation of the homeland and the country.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong praised the achievements and positive contributions of the Provincial People's Council, which have brought about high practical efficiency and contributed positively to the socio-economic development of the province. In the coming time, the Provincial People's Council needs to actively advise the Party committees and authorities at all levels, strengthen propaganda work to raise people's awareness of people's diplomacy in the new situation; further innovate its forms of operation, proactively coordinate with relevant departments, branches and organizations to complete assigned tasks well, focusing on promoting the image of Nghe An to the world.

Recognizing the results of the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations in the past term, at the Congress, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Provincial Fatherland Front Committee presented the Union with a banner bearing the words "Nghe An Union of Friendship Organizations 25 years of construction and development".

The Congress elected the new Executive Committee with 34 members. Comrade Nguyen Xuan Son - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Mass Mobilization Committee continued to be elected as Chairman of the Provincial Youth Union for the 2012-2017 term.
