Vinh Nghiem Pagoda (Yen Dung District, Bac Giang) is a Buddhist center, a place to train monks for the whole country, the birthplace of the Three Patriarchs of Truc Lam Zen Buddhism of Vietnam and is considered a gem among the ancient pagodas in our country. Currently, the pagoda still preserves 3,050 woodblocks of Buddhist scriptures with 9 large books belonging to two main types of scriptures and books: The type of scriptures originating from China and India, passed down by the Buddhas of the Truc Lam Zen sect, annotated according to Vietnamese thought, and the type of scriptures composed and passed down by the Patriarchs of the Truc Lam Zen sect.
All of these woodblocks were carved by many artisans from all over the Red River Delta region during the period from the reign of King Tu Duc to the reign of King Bao Dai. The special value of the Buddhist scripture woodblocks of Vinh Nghiem Pagoda lies in the fact that the ideology and teachings of Truc Lam Zen Monastery are engraved very clearly and carry strong national identity along with profound humanistic values that are elaborately expressed on each woodblock. /.
