Thousands of hair dyes
With a wide range of prices, brands and quality, consumers find it difficult to differentiate hair dyes and often leave their health to this dangerous beauty product. Each bottle of popular hair dye sold at cosmetic stores or markets usually costs from a few tens of thousands to more than a hundred thousand.
Specifically, hair dye at some cosmetic shops in Cau Giay, Nam Tu Liem, Thanh Xuan Nam costs from 100,000 VND/bottle.
Ms. Thuy, owner of Thanh Thuy cosmetics store at Phung Khoang market (Nam Tu Liem - Hanoi) said: "Normally, hair dyes with warm to cold tones cost 65,000 VND - 130,000 VND/bottle. Branded hair dyes like Revlon cost from 180,000 - 230,000 VND/bottle.
The market price is already rich, the brand becomes more confusing with all the names. On a small shelf at Big C Thang Long, there are 5-6 types of hair dye such as: Bigen, Igora, Syoss, Double Rich...
Not only do consumers have difficulty identifying prices and brands, they are also deceived by shops about service prices.
At a hair salon named Long Sai Gon in Phung Khoang, Nam Tu Liem, there is an attractive advertising sign outside: Hair dyeing costs 300,000 VND.
But when customers come in to dye their hair, the staff here asks them if they want to dye their hair 300 or 500,000 VND. When customers wonder, the staff explains: "The price outside is the average price for everyone, but the price we say is using a different dye, the reason the price is expensive is because the dye we buy is also expensive."
Few customers know the quality of the hair dyes and their origins in this store. Nguyen Hong Anh, a student at Hanoi University, said: "I only know the total price, and then I have to accept whatever they put on my hair."
They poured the medicine into a black plastic bowl and brought it out to apply on my hair. I didn't know what kind of medicine it was. I didn't see it on the shelf. When I asked, I got the answer: "Professional secret, not to be revealed." Hong Anh added.
Tuan Anh, a student at the College of Construction, said: "There are times when I change my hair color 4 times a week because I don't like it, so I dye it again. Sometimes I go to a salon, sometimes I buy dye from the market and dye it myself."
Health risks of masturbating with hair dye
On the packaging of hair dyes, manufacturers put out warnings that are considered serious to ensure the safety of users, but users pay little attention to these things.
Bigen Speedy hair dye imported and distributed by Francia Beauty Company Limited has a warning image for users: "Hair dye can cause serious allergic reactions." At the same time, it is clearly stated that users need to read and follow the instructions specifically.
According to the Bigen Speedy product label, a patch test should be performed 48 hours before hair dyeing and each time hair is dyed. This product should not be used on children under 16 years of age. Temporary tattoos with "black henna" may increase the risk of allergic reactions.
In addition, the importer also recommends not using this product to dye hair if you have the following symptoms: Rash on the face or sensitive, irritated and damaged scalp. You have had a reaction after dyeing your hair. You have had a reaction when having temporary "black henna" tattooed on your skin in the past. Do not use to dye eyelashes or eyebrows. Avoid contact with eyes. Rinse eyes immediately if product gets into eyes. Wear suitable protective gloves when using the product. Rinse hair thoroughly after dyeing.
In addition to listing the ingredients in hair dyes, hair dye manufacturers also highlight substances that are toxic to users in the product warnings.
Keep out of reach of children. Product contains phenylenediamines (toluendiamines), resorcinol, and hydrogen peroxide.
Syoss, Igora and Double Rich all have the same warnings as Bigen Speedy. In addition, these companies advise consumers to consult a doctor before using hair dye or if they have signs of hair dye allergy, they should see a doctor.
