Moscow: subway derailment, at least 165 casualties
Voice of Russia reported that the death toll from the subway derailment in Moscow, Russia this morning has left 16 people dead and more than 149 injured.

Interfax quoted a source as saying that “16 people were killed, including the train driver, 149 people were injured and are being treated in hospital, 50 are in critical condition”. Currently, more than 60 medical teams and ambulance helicopters are at the scene to treat the injured.
According to Itar-Tass, three trains were derailed. The accident happened at around 8:39 a.m. this morning (Moscow time), right at rush hour in the tunnel between Park Pobedy and Slavyansky Bulvar stations, in western Moscow.
The press service of the Moscow emergency center said the train derailed due to sudden braking.
However, Interfax news agency quoted a source from the Moscow transport agency who did not mention the cause of the derailment, saying only that the train and the tracks were regularly inspected.
The agency also said the cause of the accident is under investigation.
