A scene by the Vu Giang river...

(Baonghean) - Guided by the villagers of Phu Khanh village (Khanh Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district), we followed a small path connecting to the dike of the Vu Giang river, into a dilapidated house with a tiled roof and a broken frame due to termites... Inside the house, there was nothing valuable except an old fan. The homeowner - Mr. Dang Xuan Nga lay curled up on a rickety bed.

According to Mr. Phan Xuan Dong, head of Phu Khanh village, Mr. Nga’s family situation is tragic. Mr. Nga was born in 1954, worked in agriculture, had a wife and 4 children. In 2012, his wife died of cancer; he lived as a single father raising his children, of which 2 sons were in poor health and could not work; the 2 eldest daughters “drifted” to the South to work as factory workers, one of whom got married there.

Mỗi khi hàng xóm đến giúp đỡ, ông Nga mới gượng dậy được một lúc.
Only when the neighbors came to help could Mr. Nga get up for a while.

In early 2014, Mr. Nga suffered a stroke, leading to paralysis, and has been bedridden ever since. His father is seriously ill, his two children are deaf and mute, and are in poor health and cannot work; every month, the three of them depend on Mr. Ky's 270,000 VND in social assistance. Not only do they not have money to buy medicine, they also lack rice to eat, so they have to rely on the help of neighbors.

In the corner of the yard, his son Dang Xuan Ky is carving on a piece of wood. Ky was born deaf and mute, and is in poor health. Ky was born in 1989 and studied carpentry at the provincial Vocational Training Center for the Disabled. When his father was not yet ill, Ky went to Gia Lai to work for carpentry workshops. But when his father was bedridden, he had to return to take care of him, but because of his passion for the job and his erratic temperament, he often left his father lying in one place. Every day, Ky took advantage of discarded jackfruit and guava wood logs... to carve, which were quite beautiful, but he could not sell them to anyone...

Ms. Tran Thi Xuan, a neighbor who always comes to take care of Mr. Nga, said: "When I come home from work, I run over to help my children clean for him and cook for the three of them, because they don't know how to do anything. Seeing the miserable situation of Mr. Nga and his children, many times I went to mobilize people in the commune and family to send money and rice to help Mr. Nga and his children to survive... Currently, I am helping Mr. Nga's family with paperwork to request confirmation from the commune to request the concerned authorities to help"...

I hope that the enthusiasm of Ms. Xuan and the people of Phu Khanh village will be responded to, and not waiting for a "miracle", just hoping that one day soon society and the community will have practical attention to Mr. Nga's family situation...
