A sign when smiling reveals the risk of lung cancer

Symptomslung cancertend to only appear when the condition is advanced, meaning the disease often has no obvious signs in the early stages. However, some people with new lung cancer still have unusual symptoms, so you need to pay attention.

Lung cancer can affect a variety of body functions, including your laughter. According to the American Cancer Society, chest pain that gets worse when you laugh is a common symptom of lung cancer.

Chest pain can indicate a blockage in your lungs, such as fluid buildup, enlarged lymph nodes, and tumors. Chest pain may also get worse with deep breathing and coughing.

Other common symptoms of lung cancer:

- Cough does not improve or gets worse.

- Coughing up blood or rust-colored phlegm.

- Hoarseness

- Loss of appetite, unexplained weight loss.

- Shortness of breath, wheezing.

- Feeling tired or weak.

- Infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia that do not go away or come back.

When it metastasizes to other organs, lung cancer causes symptoms:

- Bone pain (back or hip).

- Effects on the nervous system (headache, weakness or numbness in the arms or legs, dizziness, balance problems or seizures), due to cancer spreading to the brain.

- Yellow skin and eyes due to cancer metastasis to the liver.

- Swollen lymph nodes in the neck or above the collarbone.

Some of the above symptoms can also be caused by other diseases, but you should still be careful because detecting lung cancer early can make treatment easier.

Another very rare phenomenon is that some lung cancer cells produce hormones that enter the bloodstream. These hormones can cause symptoms that seem unrelated to lung cancer.

These include pins and needles sensation, numbness in fingers, toes, muscle weakness, drowsiness, dizziness and confusion, breast swelling in men or blood clots.

Another form of lung cancer that develops at the top of the lung is called a Pancoast tumor. The most common symptom is severe shoulder pain or pain that travels down the arm. Patients may also experience drooping or weakness in one eyelid and loss of sweating on one side of the face.
