A family in need of help
(Baonghean) -Pale and thin, pale skin, a few strands of hair on her head... but Diem has bright eyes full of confidence. During the 4 years of secondary school, she was always a good student but now she has to fight leukemia every day.
Born into a poor farming family in Nghia Khanh commune - Nghia Dan (Nghe An), Doan Thi Diem is the second child in a family of 3 children. Her parents put all their trust in her because she was always obedient and a good student. When she was in 4th grade, while taking her to the doctor, her family learned that she had leukemia. Also in that year, due to the family's difficult circumstances, her father fell ill and had no money for treatment, so he passed away. Despite her extreme suffering, Ms. Tang Thi Lan, Diem's mother, still persevered to raise her children to study. To have money for her child's treatment, she borrowed and sold everything she could. Now in her house there is nothing of value except a few essential items. Every 2 months, Diem has to go for treatment once, the cost for each treatment is nearly 3 million VND. It is known that her family is in a particularly difficult situation, in the house she is the main breadwinner for 5 mouths to feed. More tragically, she has also been suffering from malignant fibroids for several years.
Due to illness, Diem is very small (in 10th grade, she is only 1m30 tall and weighs less than 30kg) but is full of determination. "Diem is a good student, studies well and often helps friends in their studies" - said teacher Nguyen Huy Phuc, homeroom teacher of class 10A7.
Diem confided that she will not drop out of school no matter how difficult it is. Although she is full of determination, it is very difficult to overcome the difficult road ahead. She hopes for help so that she can continue writing her dreams.
