(Baonghean.vn) - The Supreme People's Procuratorate of China announced on October 19 that a series of Chinese officials were arrested for embezzlement and corruption.

Specifically, Mr. Wang Xiaoguang - Former Deputy Governor of Guizhou Province, Southwest China, was arrested on charges of bribery and embezzlement.

The decision was made after the National Supervisory Commission of China concluded its investigation into former official Wang Xiaoguang and transferred the case to the Supreme People's Procuratorate. Wang Xiaoguang was a member of the Standing Committee of the Guizhou Provincial Party Committee.

On the same day, Lu Wei, a former Chinese cybersecurity official, pleaded guilty to accepting millions of dollars in bribes, after prosecutors accused him of abusing his position to make profits and illegally receiving “huge amounts of assets” over the past 15 years.

Lu Wei was formally placed under investigation in November last year, becoming the first “tiger” to be targeted during President Xi Jinping’s second term, who launched a campaign to fight corruption among senior officials. The former official was expelled from the party in February.

In addition, in an announcement on October 19, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) and the National Supervisory Commission said that Mr. Bai Xiangqun - former Vice Chairman of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, was expelled from the Party and removed from public office due to "serious violations of discipline" (a phrase often used to refer to corruption).

Mr. Bai Xiangqun, 56 years old, has worked for many years in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. In May 2012, he was appointed Vice Chairman of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
