A mountainous class in Nghe An has 3 students who are valedictorians of university entrance exams.

Located in an area with a low population density, people's contributions to invest in their children's education are also very limited, but class 12D of Thanh Chuong High School in Phong Thinh commune, Thanh Chuong district, Nghe An had 3 valedictorians in the recent university entrance exam.

They are Duong Le Toan (28.5 points), valedictorian of Information Technology, Hanoi University of Science and Technology; Hong Thi Huong (26.5 points), valedictorian of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hanoi National University; Nguyen Huu Son (24.75 points), valedictorian of Mathematics, Vinh University; and Trang Thi Giang, valedictorian of Mathematics, Hanoi National University of Education.

In recent years, the percentage of students at Thanh Chuong 3 High School classified as excellent has increased year by year, from 3.8% in the 2009-2010 school year to 20% in the 2013-2014 school year.

Not only that, the school also affirmed its quality through the testing of graduation exams, ranking 5th out of 92 high schools in the province; the results of excellent students ranked in the top 10 out of 92 schools.

In the 2012-2013 university entrance exam results, the school rose 234 places nationwide and had a valedictorian entering Hanoi University of Pharmacy.

According to incomplete statistics, up to now, 40/48 students of class 12D have passed the entrance exams to universities nationwide. It is worth mentioning that those who passed the university entrance exams and achieved high scores all come from families with difficult circumstances, both of whose parents are farmers.

Due to comprehensive education, the school still maintains block C. Currently, the school still maintains 2 C classes in each block. In the recent university entrance exam, over 50% of class 12C students took block C and achieved high scores to enter universities. Among them, Nguyen Thi Tuyet, class 12C, scored 10 in English to enter Hanoi University of Foreign Languages.

To achieve these “miracles”, right from the beginning of the school year, the school arranged teachers, selected the best and most dedicated teachers for the key classes. The school has had some preferential policies for students with high academic achievements, who have contributed to the school such as exempting them from paying for bicycle parking, enjoying scholarships that the school has found such as Ovalet, Samsung, alumni…

At the same time, the school also created an incentive mechanism for teachers whose students have high university entrance exam scores, such as those in the natural science group with a score greater than or equal to 8.5 points/subject, teachers will be rewarded 200,000 VND, those in the social science group with a score greater than or equal to 8 points/subject, teachers will be rewarded 200,000 VND; for homeroom teachers who do a good job in career orientation and choosing schools for students with a university entrance rate of 90%/class, teachers will be rewarded 500,000 VND.

The school has created a friendly educational environment where there is no longer any distance between students and teachers. One advantage of this school is that the students are well-behaved, disciplined, conscious and self-respecting. Therefore, the teachers here love their students even more.

The students here are too poor, and the town is dozens of kilometers away, so information technology is also very limited. Every time a university announces exam results, the subject teachers and homeroom teachers go online, look up the exam results, and then notify their students.
