Although it is not yet June 1st, many families in SOS Children's Village Vinh have organized Children's Day early for their children. Mother Cay Van Tue shared: "My children and I organized it in advance, on the first day the Village organized it together, there was an art program and a storytelling and painting contest... it was so much fun. Therefore, every year the family organizes Tet early for the children so that on June 1st, all families gather in the Village yard to celebrate Tet...".
One day back at the Village, I witnessed the love, trust, and solidarity of each family. Even though they were not the mothers who bore them, or were not blood brothers and sisters, the families here considered each other as brothers and sisters, living a simple, warm, and loving life.
Painting is a favorite subject of many children in the village, some of them have won international prizes in painting, such as Lo Van Chong - International prize with the work: "My hometown's banh chung oven on Tet holiday"; Thai Thi Quynh - Second prize in the painting contest with the theme "Life around me" - organized by the Provincial Library in 2012; and many other prizes...
