A day with Bai Dinh pagoda
A group of reporters from Nghe An Newspaper arrived at Bai Dinh Pagoda (Ninh Binh) 3 days after the pagoda welcomed the Buddha's relics by plane from India. Although the time was very limited, the number of pilgrims returning was too large, causing traffic jams, and the mobile network was disrupted... the reporters' lenses still captured many images of this newly built but very famous pagoda.

It took us hours to get to the gate under construction with its dense, towering scaffolding system surrounded by thousands of cars.
Previously, the sixth day of the first lunar month was the opening day of Bai Dinh Pagoda Festival, and it only lasted for a week. This year, tens of thousands of people came to the pagoda from the first day of Tet. In the last three days (18, 19, 20 of the first lunar month), the number of people each day has increased to over 100,000 with 6-7 thousand cars, and the festival will certainly last until the end of spring.
Parking lot over 7,000m2still overloaded. |
The people who go to the pagoda are not only Buddhists, old men and women who come to worship, but also many young men and women, civil servants, groups of people from the same village and hamlets, and families of many generations. People go in and out, people go up and down, bustling, bustling, all are excited and eager.
