It took us hours to get to the gate under construction with its dense, towering scaffolding system surrounded by thousands of cars.


Every day over 100,000 people come to the temple.


Previously, the sixth day of the first lunar month was the opening day of Bai Dinh Pagoda Festival, and it only lasted for a week. This year, tens of thousands of people came to the pagoda from the first day of Tet. In the last three days (18, 19, 20 of the first lunar month), the number of people each day has increased to over 100,000 with 6-7 thousand cars, and the festival will certainly last until the end of spring.

The people who go to the pagoda are not only Buddhists, old men and women who come to worship, but also many young men and women, civil servants, groups of people from the same village and hamlets, and families of many generations. People go in and out, people go up and down, bustling, bustling, all are excited and eager.


The Phap Chu Temple is 30 m high, 47.6 m long, and 43.3 m wide. The temple has 5 compartments, the middle compartment is 13.5 m wide, and the 4 side compartments are 8 m wide. The column system is made of reinforced concrete painted to imitate wood, the middle compartment houses the statue of the Phap Chu Buddha.


The Tam The Temple is located at the highest position of the pagoda, consisting of three curved roof floors, with 12 roofs on four sides, 34 m high, 59.1 m long, and more than 40 m wide. The system of reinforced concrete columns painted to imitate wood. In the temple are placed 3 bronze statues of the Three Buddhas (past, present, and future) 7.2 m high, each weighing 50 tons. Record confirmed: The pagoda has the largest bronze statue of the Three Buddhas in Vietnam.


The statue of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara with a thousand eyes and a thousand hands, cast in bronze, gilded, weighing 80 tons, 9.57 m high, is the largest bronze statue of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara in Vietnam.


The 100-ton, gold-plated, solid bronze statue of Sakyamuni - the largest Buddha statue in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.



The two corridors consist of 234 rooms, on the East and West sides, 1,052 m long, with 500 Arhat statues made of monolithic stone, each statue is 2 to 2.4 m high, weighs about 4 tons, crafted by artisans from the stone craft village of Ninh Van commune, Hoa Lu district, Ninh Binh province.

The new Bai Dinh Pagoda (Bai Dinh Tan Tu) has an area of ​​80 hectares, located in the west of the ancient capital Hoa Lu.This is a Buddhist project built by a group of private individuals and charitable funds, designed and built by Mr. Nguyen Van Truong, Director of Xuan Truong Limited Liability Company, and is the Investor. The initial investment capital is about 6,000 billion VND, construction started in 2003.

The pagoda will be basically completed in time to celebrate the 1,000th anniversary of King Ly Thai To moving the capital from Hoa Lu to Thang Long (1010 - 2010).
