An Asian country massively buys Vietnamese agricultural products, some types increase dramatically by 1,520%

Last May, although the turnover was still quite modest, most of our country's agricultural products exported to Indonesia recorded strong growth. Of which, seafood exports reached 4.12 million USD, coffee reached 17.5 million USD, both doubled compared to May 2022; vegetables and fruits reached 0.83 million USD, 1.7 times higher; rice exports earned 32.3 million USD, 6 times higher.

In the first 5 months of 2023, only rubber and tea exports recorded a decrease in turnover, while other agricultural products all grew strongly at 2-3 digits.

Specifically, seafood exports to this market increased by 70.2% over the same period last year, earning 7.83 million USD; vegetables and fruits reached 2.44 million USD, up 20.4%; coffee reached 76.2 million USD, up 185.4%.

Notably, by the end of May 2023, rice exports to this market reached 181.4 million USD, a sharp increase of 1,520% over the same period in 2022. That means this country spent about 16 times more money than the same period last year to buy Vietnamese rice to eat.

With the above figures, Indonesia has become a major customer of Vietnamese rice, accounting for 9.5% of the total rice export value of our country in the first 5 months of this year.

According to industry experts, in the context of inflation occurring in many countries around the world, our country's agricultural export turnover to key markets has decreased sharply. Enterprises are "hungry" for orders from traditional markets, forcing them to seek new markets to compensate. This is also part of the reason why agricultural exports to countries in the Asian region have flourished, including Indonesia.
