(Baonghean.vn) -On December 25, leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development inspected the spring crop production situation in Nam Dan and Hung Nguyen districts, which are localities with many rice seedlings sown early compared to the province's crop schedule.

After checking the actual situation, the leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development assessed that the localities sowing rice too early compared to the crop calendar, especially medium-duration rice varieties such as BC15, AC5... will lead to early rice flowering, which is not within the safe crop time frame and can easily affect productivity, especially when this year's spring crop is forecasted to be a warm spring crop. In particular, in Nam Dan, the sowing time of some rice varieties according to the district's direction is nearly 20 days earlier than the province's crop calendar. The scattered seeding also makes it difficult to organize, direct, and manage diseases; the weather is currently complicated, so sowing too early will easily cause the seedlings to encounter unfavorable weather, while in reality, many areas of sown rice seedlings are not covered with plastic by people.

Currently, according to the forecast of the hydrometeorological sector, in the coming time, there will continue to be increased cold air waves. Localities need to focus on directing, planting seedlings and spring rice according to the crop schedule; applying management measures, covering seedlings with plastic to protect them from cold and rats, closely monitoring weather developments to have a plan for soaking and producing suitable spring rice varieties, limiting nitrogen fertilizer application and only selling NPK and manure, and at the same time preparing adequate water and ash sources to take good care of seedlings if the weather is cold.
