A fishing boat of Nghe An fishermen caught a big catch of mackerel worth 700 million VND.
After 5 days of fishing in the Gulf of Tonkin, a fishing boat of Nghe An fishermen returned to shore with a full catch of mackerel and scad, worth about 700 million VND.

Today (May 9) at Quynh Phuong fishing port (Hoang Mai town), the atmosphere was bustling when fishing boat NA99399TS owned by fisherman Nguyen Van Phuong just docked after a 5-day fishing trip. The sailors urgently brought the newly caught mackerel and scad ashore to promptly supply fresh fish to traders.

“This trip was lucky, catching a good amount of mackerel and swordfish. Each time we cast the net, we caught a high yield of big, good quality fish. The boat caught more than 5 tons of mackerel, 3 tons of swordfish, and mullet…; many of them were especially large, mackerel from 5 – 7 kg each, and swordfish weighing up to 25 – 70 kg” – Mr. Phuong happily shared.
To maintain the freshness and value when consumed, Mr. Phuong proactively returned to shore immediately to consume the fish while the price was still high and the supply was scarce.

According to records, at Quynh Phuong fishing port, each crate of mackerel and swordfish brought ashore is of grade 1 quality, shiny, firm meat and large weight. Many mackerel weigh more than 10 kg, swordfish can weigh up to 70 kg, and are sought after by traders to buy right at the port at high prices.
The ship has not been docked for long, but traders are already there to select goods, put them in cold storage or transport them for consumption. The price of fresh mackerel is fluctuating from 130,000 - 160,000 VND/kg, and the price of sardines is also stable from 60,000 - 80,000 VND/kg. With this price, the ship owner has earned about 700 million VND after 5 days at sea.

This successful fishing trip not only brings income but also a great source of encouragement to help fishermen feel more confident in their fishing grounds, contributing to affirming sovereignty over seas and islands.
Hoang Mai town currently has over 1,000 fishing boats, concentrated in the communes of Quynh Lap, Quynh Phuong, and Quynh Di, including many large-capacity fleets equipped with modern machinery, which can help them reach further and access potential fishing grounds such as the Hoang Sa sea area and the Gulf of Tonkin.
