(Baonghean) - In November 2010, Chau Hoi commune (Quy Chau) invested in building a rural traffic route from Hoi I village to Khun village. The route plays an important role in developing people's lives, connecting Hoi I, Hoi 2, Hoi 3, Khun village (Chau Hoi commune) and some villages in Chau Hanh commune. According to the design, the route is 2,700m long, with an asphalt road surface of 3.5m wide, with a total capital from Program 135 and 299 of over 4 billion VND, with Chau Hoi commune People's Committee as the investor. Minh Ngoc Joint Stock Company and Thuan Duc Company Limited are in charge of the construction. However, just handed over in July 2011, many sections have been seriously degraded, greatly affecting travel, trade of goods and causing danger to people and vehicles participating in traffic.

The most "painful" section is the section passing Mr. Vi Van Tien's house (Khun village), about 200m long, the entire road surface is torn up, full of dirt and rocks, many sections are about 40cm deep. Mr. Vi Van Tien said: "Not long ago, Mr. Vi Van Phuong and his son and Mr. Tien Vien (from Khun village) on their way home from a medical examination passed here to avoid a pothole, so both the car and the person fell into the field, but luckily they only suffered minor scratches". According to Mr. Tien, before the road was built, many cars came in every day to transport forest products, so there were many places that were nearly 1 meter deep. During the construction, the contractor did not pave the road with boulders but only poured soil into the old lanes, then spread a layer of small rocks and rolled the embankment to make a base for asphalt, so the quality was not guaranteed.

Mr. Lang Van Ty, Chairman of Chau Hoi Commune People's Committee, said: "After receiving feedback from the people, the commune requested the construction side to immediately repair the damaged road sections to ensure traffic safety on this route. However, up to now, it seems that the above request has been ignored by the contractors."
