Buying and selling 5 heroin cakes, 2 defendants received life sentences
(Baonghean.vn) - Caught red-handed buying and selling 5 heroin cakes, Lang Van Anh and Tran Thanh Minh were both sentenced to life in prison.
On the morning of June 27, the People's Court of Nghe An province opened a first-instance criminal trial of two defendants, Lang Van Anh (born in 1980, residing in Muong Noc commune, Que Phong district) and Tran Thanh Minh (born in 1967, residing in Quang Phong ward, Thai Hoa town). The two defendants were prosecuted for "illegal drug trafficking".

According to the indictment, at 7:30 p.m. on December 13, 2017, in Nghia Lien commune, Nghia Dan district, the Nghia Dan district police task force discovered and caught Lang Van Anh red-handed preparing to trade drugs with Tran Thanh Minh, seizing 5 heroin cakes.
At the investigation agency, the subjects confessed that on December 12, 2017, Lang Van Anh agreed to sell Tran Thanh Minh 5 heroin cakes for 650 million VND. On December 13, 2017, Minh gave Anh 600 million VND in advance, Anh brought 5 heroin cakes weighing 1,732 grams to sell to Minh. However, the subjects' actions did not fool the authorities.
In court, Lang Van Anh and Tran Thanh Minh admitted all their crimes. With the large amount of drugs, the jury sentenced both defendants to life in prison.
Defendant Tran Thanh Minh was previously sentenced by the People's Court of Nghe An province to 4 years in prison for "escaping from prison" in 1992, 12 years in prison for "robbery of citizens' property" in 1992; and was sentenced by the People's Court of Nhu Xuan district, Thanh Hoa province to 4 years and 6 months in prison for "escaping from prison" in 1996.
