Hail and tornadoes swept through western Nghe An, hundreds of houses had their roofs blown off.

Mr. Vi Van Quanh - Chairman of Chau Ly Commune People's Committee (Quy Hop District)reported that at around 3:00 p.m. on February 21, a tornado and hail appeared in Chau Ly commune. The tornado and hail appeared suddenly, leaving people unable to react, causing serious damage to property.

According to incomplete statistics, Chau Ly commune has hundreds of households in Pu Lau hamlet, Con village, Ngon village, Pan village, Sao village and Choong village whose roofs were blown off and many trees were broken.

At the same time, in Nghia Xuan commune, a tornado accompanied by hail suddenly fell, affecting the houses and trees of 15 households in Mo hamlet.

After the hailstorm that lasted for about 30 minutes, people in the two communes saw these stones as big as a fingertip. People said that the area had never seen hail in January like this before.

Immediately after the tornado and hailstorm passed, the People's Committee of Quy Hop district and the authorities of the communes sent officials to the area to direct hamlets and villages to mobilize forces to help people overcome the consequences.

That same afternoon,A large tornado suddenly appeared, swept through Xieng and Tung Poong villages, Binh Chuan commune, Con Cuong district, blowing off the roofs of 25 houses.

Mr. Kha Van Hai from Xieng village, one of the two households that suffered the most damage, was shocked to recount that at about 4 pm, it was raining, suddenly a very strong whirlwind appeared, sweeping through for about 30 minutes. Because it was so unexpected, everyone in the house did not have time to react, causing the roof to be completely blown off, all the property in the house from blankets to rice... were wet.

According to initial statistics, the tornado blew off the roofs of 25 houses in Binh Chuan commune, including one house with a completely blown-off roof, one house collapsed, and some forest areas and trees belonging to people were broken, fortunately there were no human casualties.

After the tornado passed, the Binh Chuan commune government went to inspect and encourage the people, and mobilized forces to coordinate with them to overcome the consequences.
