The journey to conquer audiences of historical blockbusters

The movie about the 81-day and night battle to protect Quang Tri Citadel - "Red Rain" - has officially surpassed "Mai" by director Tran Thanh to take the number one position in the history of the Vietnamese box office. The work earned nearly 552 billion VND, a record number set in just 17 days.

While "Mai" took 40 days to reach the 551 billion VND mark, "Red Rain" did it at a spectacular speed. On September 7 alone, the film still earned more than 20 billion VND, leading the daily revenue chart even though the number of screenings had decreased slightly due to the appearance of a new work.

The success of "Red Rain" is not just a number. Mr. Nguyen Hoang Hai, Director of Content CGV Vietnam, shared that the film accounts for more than 11% of total ticket sales since the beginning of 2024 and is expected to soon reach 7 million viewers. This shows the strong appeal of the work to the public.

As soon as the historic milestone was reached, the "Red Rain" crew received countless congratulations from colleagues, including directors Tran Thanh and Ly Hai. Director Dang Thai Huyen expressed her happiness when the film's achievements exceeded expectations and, most of all, was warmly received by the audience.

The numbers speak for themselves.

To achieve realistic and magnificent images, the producer invested a lot. A 50-hectare film studio was built on the banks of the Thach Han River. The film crew used modern machinery, with some scenes using up to 7 cameras at the same time to capture the most vivid perspectives.

"Red Rain" continues the success of previous works with the same theme such as "Peach, Pho and Piano" (21 billion VND) and "Cu Chi Tunnels" (172 billion VND), affirming the new vitality and ability to attract young audiences of historical and revolutionary war films in Vietnam.
