(Baonghean.vn) - Students of high schools and middle schools in Mon Son commune (Con Cuong) were forced to stay home on October 15 due to floods that isolated many villages. Some sections of Ho Chi Minh road in Anh Son district were heavily flooded.

According to information from schools, 456 secondary school students and 389 high school students in the border commune of Mon Son had to stay home from school due to the impact of floods. In addition, some primary schools also had to stay home for the safety of the students. It is estimated that about 1,000 students in Mon Son had to stay home from school during this flood.

Currently, the local government has not yet had statistics on the damage caused by the flood. However, Mr. Luong Viet Tung - Chairman of the People's Committee of Mon Son commune informed: The flood occurred when people had finished harvesting the crop, so there was no damage to crops. The rain lasted for a long time and was not unexpected. People proactively responded when it started to rain.

The commune authorities have also set up checkpoints at key points to prevent people from crossing the stream during the flood season. Rising water levels have also caused the Khe Moi overflow bridge to be deeply submerged. People in Mon Son commune cannot travel to the district center by personal vehicles.

Meanwhile, the Ho Chi Minh trail section passing through Khai Son commune (Anh Son) was heavily flooded, making it difficult for vehicles to travel. Some sections of the road were flooded about 0.5m deep, and the strong water flow caused many vehicles to stall. Currently, the 487 Road Management Company has put up warning signs, installed danger warning posts, and diverted traffic to ensure the safety of people and vehicles.
