Buying drugs to treat chronic abdominal pain, sentenced to 5 and a half years in prison
(Baonghean.vn) - Going to a roadside cafe, Cong met a strange man sitting and drinking with him. He immediately started a conversation, "Do you know anyone who sells red drugs? Tell me where to buy some." He gave the man 4.8 million VND to buy it.
On the morning of June 26, at the headquarters of the People's Committee of Nghia Dung commune, the People's Court of Tan Ky district held a mobile trial of the criminal case against Hoang Thi Cong (born in 1959), residing in hamlet 3, Nghia Hanh commune, for the crime of illegal possession of narcotics.
According to the indictment, at about 9:00 a.m. on January 29, 2018, after finishing his family business in Khai Son commune, Anh Son district, Cong went home. On the way home, Cong stopped at a cafe at the intersection of Ho Chi Minh trail and National Highway 7 in hamlet 6, Khai Son commune, Anh Son district to drink water and met a strange man (about 50 years old) who also went to the cafe to drink water and so he sat down to talk.

Because he had a stomachache for a long time and had tried many different medicines without success, and had heard many people say that using the drug pink phien could cure the disease, while sitting and talking, Cong asked the man, "Do you know anyone who sells red drugs? Tell me how much to buy." The man said, "How many?" Cong asked the price, and the man replied, "Sixty thousand a pill." Hearing that, Cong gave the man 4.8 million VND to buy it.
About 15 minutes later, the man returned and gave Cong a small package, wrapped in a plastic bag, tied with a black plastic string with a metal core inside containing many small pink compressed pills and a white plastic tube sealed at both ends, inside containing many compressed pills.
Cong knew it was the drugs he needed to buy, so he put them in his bag, went home, and hid all the drugs he had just bought in the family's buffalo pen area.
At 5:30 p.m. the same day, Cong took the plastic bag containing the above drugs and stood at the buffalo pen to count them. The working group of Tan Ky District Police in coordination with Nghia Hanh Commune Police raided and caught him red-handed, seizing 01 package containing 54 pink tablets of similar size.
The Working Group made a record of the arrest of Cong, sealed all the drugs mentioned above, and then escorted Cong to the headquarters for work.
In the conclusion of the forensic examination No. 704/KL-PC09 (MT) dated May 1, 2019 of the Criminal Techniques Department, Nghe An Provincial Police concluded that the pink tablets seized from Cong were drugs with a total weight of 8.175 grams.
At the end of the trial, the panel sentenced Cong to 5 years and 6 months in prison.
