Bamboo shoot season in Hua Muong

(Baonghean.vn) - In early October, anyone who has the opportunity to visit Hua Muong village, Hanh Dich commune, Que Phong district will see groups of women going to the forest to pick bamboo shoots, bring them back to process and sell right in the village.

Every early morning, the women in the village go to the forest together to pick bamboo shoots. On average, each person can pick more than 15kg of bamboo shoots each time they go to the forest. Stronger women can pick 20-30kg. The bamboo shoots are boiled and sold right in the village to traders.

1 kg of fresh bamboo shoots after preliminary processing is sold for 6,000 VND. During the bamboo shoot season, each woman in Hua Muong village has an additional income of 150,000 - 200,000 VND/day, with some earning up to 300,000 VND/day.
