(Baonghean.vn) -This morning, May 10, in Vinh City, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the Nghe An Folk Arts Association and his family to organize a ceremony to celebrate the 80th birthday of Associate Professor Ninh Viet Giao. This is an activity to recognize the Associate Professor's contributions to the field of culture and folk arts of Nghe An over the past half century.

Attending the longevity celebration were comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Professor Phan Huy Le - Chairman of the Vietnam Historical Science Association, Professor Phong Le - former Director of the Vietnam Literature Institute, representatives of Thanh Hoa and Ha Tinh provinces and a number of provincial departments and branches, along with many scientists, generations of students, relatives and friends of Associate Professor.




Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong presented Associate Professor Ninh Viet Giao with a banner from the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of the province.

Associate Professor Ninh Viet Giao was born and raised in Thanh Hoa but has been attached to Nghe An for nearly 60 years. In 1956, after graduating from Hanoi Pedagogical University, he taught at Huynh Thuc Khang High School (Vinh City), then Nghe An Secondary Pedagogical School. Here, Associate Professor had access to teachers and students from all over Nghe An and developed his ability to collect and research folk culture and arts. From 1967 to 1970, he worked as a seconded officer researching Party history. From 1970 to 1992, he was a training and development manager of Nghe An Department of Education. From 1992 to present, he has been the Chairman of Nghe An Folk Arts Association.

With his great contributions in teaching, training, nurturing generations of students and collecting, researching, and publishing many intangible cultural heritage publications, Associate Professor Ninh Viet Giao is known as: Nghe An Localist, Artist, the person who breathes life into Nghe An culture... He was awarded by the Party and State: Third Class Labor Medal, Second Class Labor Medal, First Class Anti-American Resistance Medal, State Prize in 2011 and many certificates of merit and awards from the Provincial People's Committee and the Vietnam Folk Arts Association.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong respectfully congratulated Associate Professor Ninh Viet Giao on his health and longevity, and hoped that the Associate Professor would continue to research, collect, and contribute more works and works on Nghe An's culture and folk arts. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also emphasized that with his persistent and intelligent working spirit, Associate Professor Ninh Viet Giao is a shining example for generations of students and teachers to follow. The Associate Professor's research, collection, and creations contribute to preserving the precious intangible cultural assets of Nghe An's countryside.

In recognition of Associate Professor Ninh Viet Giao's contributions to the cultural and folk arts career of Nghe An, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and Provincial Fatherland Front Committee presented a congratulatory banner to the Associate Professor; comrades Phan Dinh Trac - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Ho Duc Phoc - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee sent congratulatory flower baskets; many departments, branches, organizations, friends and students also presented flowers and gifts to congratulate the Associate Professor.

Speaking at the longevity celebration, Associate Professor Ninh Viet Giao thanked the leaders of Nghe An province, the people of Nghe An, teachers, friends, and students for always creating favorable conditions for him to achieve the success he has today.
