Muong Long successfully grows off-season lilies
(Baonghean) - In 2005, lilies were planted in two communes, Huoi Tu and Na Ngoi (Ky Son), where they grew and developed well, bringing high economic efficiency. Mr. Phan Dinh Tai - technical officer of the Agricultural Extension - Fisheries Extension Center of Nghe An province said: "The technique of planting lilies is simple, through the experimental planting period in Muong Long, it has been shown that lilies grow and develop well and can be planted in all three crops, autumn, winter and spring on this land".
From the capital of the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center, in September 2011, Muong Long Experimental Station imported 1,000 lily plants from the Netherlands for pilot planting in the commune in the autumn crop. Through the successful pilot planting, it was confirmed that Muong Long can grow lilies all year round. From there, the Experimental Station is planning to expand this plant variety in the commune so that people can grow and sell it during holidays and Tet. Hopefully in the near future, people will not only know Muong Long for its peach and plum trees but also for the pink color of its lilies.
Along with the lily model, Muong Long Experimental Station is currently expanding the Panax notoginseng planting model. With these new varieties, it is hoped that they will be the spearhead in the economic development of the people here.
