According to Reuters, the US Embassy in Bulgaria warned its citizens on the evening of March 24 to avoid a busy traffic area in the capital Sofia due to a potential threat targeting an unspecified bus route.
"The US Embassy has received information about a potential threat against an unspecified bus route or bus routes in the area around the Pliska Hotel," the agency said in a statement on Facebook, advising US citizens to avoid the area, which is located on one of Sofia's main avenues.
Bulgaria's Interior Ministry said it was not aware of any credible threats at the site, which has long been known informally as Hotel Pliska.
However, Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova said that police have increased their presence in the area./.
