US warns North Korea will launch missile in next 3 days

A US news channel quoted two anonymous officials as saying that the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is preparing for a missile launch in the next three days.

North Korea has planned to launch a missile in the next 24 to 72 hours, according to US officials, but did not provide any other specific information. Since mid-April, North Korea has test-fired the Musudan missile eight times. Except for the successful launch on June 22, the other launches have all failed.

However, after North Korea launched a medium-range missile that flew about 250 km and fell into Japan's exclusive economic zone for the first time, Japan expressed concern that North Korea was better at concealing its preparations for missile launches.

Japan yesterday (November 1) decided to extend by another 3 months the order for the Self-Defense Forces (SDF) to be ready to shoot down ballistic missiles that may be launched from North Korea.

The order was issued on August 8 and is expected to expire early this month. During a meeting in Seoul on the same day, South Korean special representative for North Korean peace and security affairs Kim Hong Kyun and US special representative for North Korea policy Joseph Yun reaffirmed that they will strengthen sanctions and pressure to force North Korea to abandon its controversial nuclear program.
