Responding to a question about the possibility of resolving the Ukraine crisis, White House strategic communications coordinator John Kirby affirmed: “Obviously, this is not going to happen at this time.” Mr. Kirby said that the US has not seen an opportunity to end the conflict in Ukraine on its own.
According to Mr. Kirby, the peace conditions that suit Washington include: Russia's withdrawal of troops, respect for Ukraine's sovereignty, and Ukraine's success in regaining territories.
Earlier, on September 13, Politico published an article stating that the political circles in Europe and the US are questioning the long-term support for the Kiev government. The publication said that if the EU refuses to continue providing the necessary support, Ukraine will still have “a solid foundation under the support of the US”. At the same time, the loss of support from Washington will have more serious consequences.
