The US is looking to block “Nord Stream-2”
The United States is considering various methods to prevent the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, US Assistant to the President for National Security John Bolton said at a conference organized by the Wall Street Journal.
"The President has always said that Germany should cancel the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project. We are considering possible options in this direction," Bolton said.
Earlier, a senior US State Department official said that the incident with the Ukrainian naval vessels seized in the Kerch Strait for violating the Russian border should force the European Union to abandon Nord Stream 2. At the same time, the German Foreign Ministry previously stressed that the incident in the Black Sea has not changed Berlin's attitude towards the construction of this gas pipeline.
The US State Department representative added that the issue of building a gas pipeline was discussed with German politicians and after the incident in the Black Sea they became more sensitive to the US call for Nord Stream-2.
