US: Two gangs fight each other, killing 9 people

(Baonghean.vn) - Texas news agency reported that on Sunday, May 17, a clash between two motorcycle gangs at a parking lot in Waco city left 9 people dead and many others injured.

The clash between two gangs took place in the parking lot of the Central Texas Markel shopping center. The parties attacked each other with baseball bats and knives before using guns. When police arrived, members of both gangs had left the scene, said Sgt. Patrick Swanton.

Sergeant Swanton said police recovered more than 100 firearms at the scene. Police are currently gathering information from surveillance devices around the scene to find out information about the race cars present before the shooting took place. Witnesses were also moved to a safe place by police.

The area where the shooting took place was cordoned off immediately after, and authorities asked people not to go to the scene. The Waco police posted on Facebook: "People are asked to avoid the Central Texas Market because the area is currently unsafe. Police will continue to arrest anyone who passes through the area carrying a weapon." A source said that an armed person was later arrested.

Waco, a city in southern Texas, has a population of about 129,000. In 1993, a fierce battle between members of a cult and the FBI took place in the city. The battle left 74 people dead. After that incident, Waco was under siege for 50 days.
