US, South Korea begin large-scale military exercises
On February 27, the US and South Korea began their annual military exercises despite repeated threats from North Korea.
The exercise, called “The Key Resolve,” began today and will end on March 9, with the participation of about 200,000 South Korean soldiers and 2,100 US soldiers. Australia, Canada, Denmark, Norway, and the UK are participating as observers.

Over the weekend, Pyongyang warned it was ready to respond to any provocations from the US and South Korea.
On February 27, North Korea also accused the above military exercises of the US and South Korea of carrying a "warlike" message.
Pyongyang also described the drills as "an unforgivable violation of the sovereignty and dignity of the DPRK"./.
