The US does not recognize China's control over the East Sea.
The US will not recognize the zone of control that China could unilaterally establish in the East Sea.
The US once again expressed its determination against China's intention to monopolize the East Sea when it declared that it would reject any control zone that Beijing imposes in this important sea area.
US Deputy Secretary of Defense Robert Work said on March 30 that the US will not recognize the control zone that China could unilaterally establish in the East Sea.

According to Mr. Work, these control zones are not based on international law and the US will continue to send ships and planes to operate in any area that international law allows.
US officials are concerned that the Permanent Court of Arbitration's ruling, expected in the coming weeks on the Philippines' lawsuit against China, will prompt Beijing to accelerate the establishment of an Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) in the South China Sea.
Deputy Secretary of Defense Robert Work stressed that the US has made it clear to China that the air defense identification zone would destabilize the region and that all sovereignty claims in the East Sea must be resolved through negotiations, not by force or threats.
The US statement came as Chinese President Xi Jinping prepares to visit the US for a nuclear summit this weekend and is expected to have a bilateral meeting with President Barack Obama.
The US has repeatedly accused China of increasing tensions in the East Sea through a series of unilateral actions such as building artificial islands, building infrastructure, deploying missiles, etc.
Washington also rejected the air defense identification zone that China unilaterally declared in the East China Sea in late 2013./.
