Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh said that in recent years, the United States has become the number one foreign investor in Vietnam in the tourism sector.

Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh said that in recent years, the United States has become the number one foreign investor in Vietnam in the tourism sector.

Vietnam and the United States have also increased the exchange of art troupes to perform, sports exchanges in the two countries, and cooperation in tourism development.

Speaking at a working session with the US Department of State held on August 10 within the framework of "Vietnamese Cultural Days in the United States," Minister Hoang Tuan Anh sent his congratulations to Secretary of State John Kerry who had just concluded a successful visit to Vietnam, and thanked the US Department of State for coordinating and supporting the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to successfully organize "Vietnamese Cultural Days in the United States", attracting a large number of local audiences to participate.

Minister Hoang Tuan Anh highly appreciated, acknowledged and thanked the Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation, US Department of State, for funding activities to preserve cultural heritages in Vietnam and other funding activities for the culture, sports and tourism sector through non-governmental organizations.

The number of American tourists to Vietnam is increasing, with 301,907 American tourists coming to Vietnam in the first seven months of this year alone.

The Vietnamese government is also actively facilitating US tourists by extending the visa duration for US tourists from three months to one year, with the goal of reaching 1 million US tourists to Vietnam by 2017.

Minister Hoang Tuan Anh suggested that the two countries should continue to strengthen and promote cooperation in developing culture, sports and tourism to match the potential of cooperation between the two sides, including cooperation in training, developing human resources in cinema, dance, music, performing arts, exchanging high-level delegations, people-to-people exchanges, art exchanges, supporting Vietnam in finding a location to build a Cultural Center in the United States, funding projects on preserving cultural heritages, translating US literary works into Vietnamese and vice versa.

Regarding tourism development, Minister Hoang Tuan Anh proposed that the two sides sign a government-level tourism cooperation agreement or agreement and create conditions for tourism associations and tourism businesses of the two countries to cooperate in business, exchange delegations, exchange information and experience in tourism management and development, tourism promotion and statistics. Strengthen exchanges and develop sports such as sending US sports delegations to Vietnam.

Deputy Minister Stengel congratulated Minister Hoang Tuan Anh and his delegation on their successful visit to the United States to organize the "Vietnamese Cultural Days in the United States". He agreed with Minister Hoang Tuan Anh's opinion on the great results of the comprehensive cooperation over the past 20 years between the two countries, in which culture and people-to-people exchange have always played an important role, as a bridge of friendship and a catalyst for peace and reconciliation. Therefore, promoting cultural, sports and tourism cooperation to enhance people-to-people exchange and mutual understanding through art performances, concerts, exhibitions and other cultural and sports events between the two countries is very necessary.

On this occasion, through Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister Hoang Tuan Anh signed and presented the Vietnamese-English bilingual copy of "The Tale of Kieu" to a number of US politicians such as President Barack Obama, former President Bill Clinton, Vice President Joe Biden, US Secretary of State Kerry and Senator John McCain. Deputy Minister Stengel happily accepted and promised to deliver it.

Also today, Minister Hoang Tuan Anh and the delegation had a working session with the Motion Picture Association of America on enhancing cooperation in film development between the two countries, and visited and worked with the Board of Directors of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts./.
