America shaken by protests demanding justice for black people
A large-scale protest movement has actually formed with the participation of tens of thousands of people in many major cities of the United States.
A wave of anger in the US has erupted more and more violently after a court in this country decided not to prosecute the white police officer who shot and killed a young black man in Ferguson, Missouri in early August 2014.

The incident has plunged the United States into days of serious unrest. Yesterday (December 13), thousands of protesters poured into the streets of many major cities across the United States, marching to demand justice for people of color in America.
The march that took place yesterday across the US is said to be the largest march since a court in this country decided not to prosecute the white police officer who shot and killed a black youth in Ferguson on August 9.
In Washington, DC, about 50,000 people marched down Pennsylvania Avenue to the center of the capital, carrying banners with slogans such as "No justice, no peace", "Let's do justice now". Thousands of protesters poured onto major roads, paralyzing traffic.
“We want to make sure that we can talk to the government, talk to this justice system,” said Terrence Muhammad, a protester in Washington. “We need the government to do justice. Today’s protest is not just in Washington, it’s a protest in cities all over America, because we need an America with justice. We want to make sure that this is a movement and these calls are not just in America, they are a call to the world.”
Meanwhile, in New York, about 20,000 protesters marched 6km from Washington Square to police headquarters, calling on Congress to do more to protect people of color from injustice. The New York march attracted many young people.
“I don’t want big changes, I just want small changes,” said protester Walter Newsome in New York. “Look at the community members, look at the citizens. And we definitely need an independent investigation into this.”
In Boston, police said they arrested 23 protesters who tried to block a highway.
The death of the black youth under police gunfire has also sparked a nationwide debate about racism in the United States. In the face of increasingly widespread unrest, US President Barack Obama has repeatedly called for restraint from all sides and sent teams from the Department of Homeland Security and the US Federal Bureau of Investigation to investigate the incident./.
