America shocked when discovering 73 airport employees involved in terrorism

The US Department of Homeland Security revealed on June 9 that US airports are "hiding places" for at least 73 people linked to terrorism.

Homeland Security Inspector General John Roth, who is speaking to lawmakers about the new report, said current law limits the TSA’s ability to monitor and hire, making it unable to ensure it reviews all applicants’ background checks.

Inspector General Roth also said the law should be changed to allow TSA access to all relevant information, including the FBI's terrorist list.

Assistant Director of Security at Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport, Becky Roering, even confirmed that several former employees of this airport left the US for Syria to join the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) terrorist organization.

During the discussion, a TSA official criticized the US PreCheck airport security screening program. Under this program, TSA will not screen passengers who successfully register for PreCheck.

These people will be deemed “trustworthy” by TSA and can go straight through security without having to remove their shoes, belts and jackets, and their laptops can also be left in their bags.

There are more than a million Americans enrolled in TSA's PreCheck program. There was one case where a former member of an extremist organization accidentally signed up for PreCheck, but was later discovered by a TSA officer and reported to his superiors.

Many TSA employees have poor work attitudes in an environment of fear and suspicion, Ms. Roering added./.
