US withdraws from START-3, nuclear weapons destroy the world?

The world is threatened by nuclear arsenal and the situation is getting tense as Russia and the US fail to reach a common voice on nuclear.

The confrontation between Russia and the United States (two of the seven nuclear weapons powers) is making the whole world worried.

The nuclear attack in Japan made the whole world worried and now the world is facing this threat.

Mr. Alexei Georgievich Arbatov, a politician and scientist and member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, emphasized that the world is dependent on the nuclear arsenals of a number of countries.

So if there is no general agreement on this issue when nuclear war breaks out the whole world will be destroyed.

Agreements on the reduction of intermediate- and shorter-range missiles were signed between Ronald Wilson Reagan and Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachyov in 1987.

The original agreement was aimed at controlling nuclear weapons systems due to concerns about actions following the Cuban Missile Crisis (the October Crisis in Cuba between the Soviet Union, Cuba and the United States) and due to the prolonged Cold War.

If Russia withdraws from this agreement, the Americans will retaliate and unilaterally withdraw from the treaty on the reduction and limitation of strategic arms (START-3).

Presidents Obama and Medvedev signed it back in 2010 but new President Donald Trump appears to want to abandon the deal.

According to Mr. Arbatov, if the agreements prohibiting the development and testing of nuclear weapons are not implemented, it will push the world into chaos.

He cited as an example that, thanks to nuclear arms reduction agreements, nuclear powers including Russia and the United States are not allowed to possess more than 1,550 nuclear warheads, intercontinental ballistic missiles, submarine-launched ballistic missiles and heavy bombers no more than 700 units.

Currently, the US continuously accuses Russia of violating the agreement on reducing medium- and short-range missiles. Meanwhile, Russia also accuses and condemns the US for deploying defense systems in Europe and other regions of the world.

Donald Trump's appearance was in the hope of improving relations with Russia, but so far it seems his policies are against Russia.

Mr. Arbatov emphasized that, if Mr. Obama always proposed signing new agreements with Russia, now the situation in Mr. Trump's White House has changed.

According to this expert, Mr. Trump’s “lack of principles” makes Russian authorities not understand what the US is doing. Mr. Trump’s America is “reckless” and ready to use military force to solve problems.

For example, the attack on the Syrian air base without any evidence that the Syrian army used it, or sending 3 aircraft carriers to surround North Korea, causing the situation to heat up.

Because of these actions of the US, Russia will certainly respond and the race and confrontation between the two leading powers of the world will continue and significantly affect the situation in the world. And their nuclear arsenal will be strengthened. The world is at risk of being destroyed if a conflict between them occurs.
