The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 17th Asia Security Summit - Shangri-La Dialogue (SLD), held at the Shangri-La Hotel.
The two Ministers agreed that the cooperation process between Vietnam and the US in recent times has achieved practical results, in line with the comprehensive partnership between the two countries, while contributing to maintaining peace and stability in the region and the world.
Vietnam continues to be one of the most important partners of the United States in the region. In March this year, the US aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson visited Da Nang as a symbol of that cooperative relationship.
