My Tam is 'Singer of the Year' at the Dedication Awards

Due to being on tour in Japan, "Brown-haired Nightingale" was not present at the 2015 Dedication Awards Ceremony on the evening of April 6.

The award ceremony took place at the Ho Chi Minh City Theater. Among the 7 categories, Singer of the Year was the most anticipated. Singer My Linh announced the results of this category. According to My Linh, a singer's success is thanks to the whole team behind her. Therefore, the singer will be luckier when she is the representative to receive the award every time the team reaps "sweet fruit".

The Singer of the Year category includes nominees: My Tam, Ho Ngoc Ha, Tung Duong and Nguyen Dinh Thanh Tam. Because the winner, My Tam, is on tour abroad, musician Vo Thien Thanh accepted the award on her behalf. This is the second time the female singer was not present to receive the Dedication Award.

Last year, My Tam had many exciting activities, notably the live concert "Heartbeat" in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, attracting tens of thousands of spectators. She was also recognized at the World Music Awards 2014.

Musician Vo Thien Thanh received the "Singer of the Year" award on behalf of My Tam.

As expected by many, in the category of Musician of the Year, Pham Toan Thang surpassed Tran Lap, Ta Quang Thang and Cat Tuong. For him, this is a great honor because when he wrote the music, he did not think he would win the award. "I have never dared to call myself a musician, but only an author. This is pressure and responsibility for me to strive harder," the young musician said. The song "Four words" composed by Pham Toan Thang also won the award for Song of the Year in the same nomination list with: "Trot yeu", "Noi dao xa" and "To quoc goi ten minh".

“Proud Melody” won the Program of the Year category even though the producer had previously sent a letter of withdrawal from the award because he felt the program’s criteria were not suitable for the award. The program’s music director – Quoc Trung represented the production team to receive the award. The male musician also received the Program Series of the Year award for Monsoon Music Festival 2014, which he directed.

Singer Nguyen Tran Trung Quan won the double award "New Artist" and "Album of the Year".

The 10th Dedication Awards recognized the contributions of new faces. The New Artist of the Year category was awarded to Nguyen Tran Trung Quan. He surpassed Vu Thang Loi, the OPlus group, and Huyen Sambi to win. The male singer's album "Khoi Hanh" also received the Album of the Year award. New songs by young composers were also performed on the award stage, as a way to honor their contributions to the music scene over the past year.

This year’s awards ceremony did not have many highlights. The artists presenting the awards did not have humorous exchanges, creating a joyful atmosphere like previous years. Only the exchange between MC Diem Quynh and director Le Hoang made the audience laugh. The stage design was simple and the content of the performances was edited and arranged by musician Duc Tri.
