US recalls Rohto eye drops made in Vietnam

Mentholatum, headquartered in New York State (USA), has just issued a press release announcing the recall of ROHTO brand eye drops manufactured in Vietnam.

The Mentholatum statement said that this was a voluntary decision by the group after discovering some problems in the sterilization control process at their manufacturing plant in Vietnam. According to the company, there is no evidence that the products made in Vietnam do not meet the specifications, however, the recall was carried out in the name of the principle of caution and precaution.

The recalled batches include Rohto Arctic, Rohto Ice, Rohto Hydra, Rohto Relief and Rohto Cool eye drops. The group emphasized that the recall only affects products made in Vietnam, Rohto products made in Japan are not subject to this recall and continue to be in circulation.

The announcement stated: "The batch number of products manufactured in Vietnam will include the letter V, such as “Lot 3E1V”, located on the bottom of the carton packaging, and on the bottom of the eye drop bottle. The origin of Vietnam can be identified by the words “Made in Vietnam” on the carton, below the company name and address, as well as on the label on the back of the bottle.

The decision to recall Rohto eye drops is noteworthy because Made in Vietnam products are sold not only in Vietnam but also in other places around the world, including the US.
