US deploys stealth bombers to South Korea
The US military said two nuclear-capable B-2 stealth bombers were deployed on a “deterrence” mission over South Korea on March 28, a move that is sure to further inflame tensions with North Korea.
In a press release, the US military said the two aircraft, which departed from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri, traveled 13,000 miles on a "single continuous mission" to drop dummy bombs on a target site in South Korea.

According to AFP, the statement said: "This... demonstrates the US's ability to quickly and accurately conduct long-range strikes at will. The B-2 bomber is a key component of the US's long-term and increasingly robust deterrence in the Asia-Pacific region."
On the same day, in a phone call with his South Korean counterpart, US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel emphasized that the full capabilities of the US military would be available to South Korea, including "nuclear umbrella, conventional strike means and missile defense."
Previously, on March 24, the US and South Korean militaries announced that they had completed and signed a joint action plan, drafted to allow both sides to respond to future provocations by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea "decisively and immediately"./.
