US and Philippines to hold joint naval exercises in late September

About 2,700 soldiers from both countries will participate in the amphibious landing exercise scheduled to take place from September 29 to October 10.

Thousands of Philippine and US soldiers are set to conduct an annual joint naval exercise in the western and northern Philippines later this month, a Philippine navy source said on September 9.

Sources said that about 2,700 US and Philippine soldiers will participate in the PHIBLEX amphibious landing exercise, scheduled to take place from September 29 to October 10.

The exercise aims to improve interoperability and combat readiness of Philippine and US soldiers, improve the relationship between the two countries' militaries, and strengthen security cooperation in the region.

The exercises will be held in various areas of Palawan and Zambales provinces. The exercise will also focus on humanitarian activities, including medical missions as well as the construction of infrastructure such as schools./.
