According to the Washington Post, recently the US defense corporation L-3 Communications has cooperated with the company Sensors in Motion to produce a device capable of adjusting drones, missiles, and rockets to fire at targets without the need for navigation satellites.
Sensors in Motion President David Smukowski said the device can guide and control missiles, planes, stealth aircraft, bombs, lasers, etc. with extreme precision. L-3 and Sensors in Motion secretly developed this technology for the US military.
Yesterday, March 25, a court in New Jersey sentenced Chinese citizen Sixing Liu, an engineer at L-3, to 5 years and 10 months in prison for selling thousands of files of documents about the secret equipment to China.
US prosecutors claim Liu twice asked his superiors for permission to go on vacation in China.
Liu's purpose was to get an important job in China. We believe Liu is a thief," the Washington Post quoted a US prosecutor as saying. US authorities believe Liu also sold many other L-3 defense secrets to China.
According to Reuters, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) recently expressed concern about the threat of defense technology theft. US authorities identified this as a threat to US security.
