Rafael Nadal came from behind to defeat Juan Martin del Potro 3-1 (1-6, 6-4, 6-1, 7-6), helping Spain overcome Argentina to win the Davis Cup for the fifth time.

Nadal and Ferrer easily gave Spain a 2-0 lead on the first day of competition after defeating Juan Monaco and del Potro respectively. However, in the doubles event, Argentina reduced the score to 2-1 (David Nalbandian and Eduardo Schwank won, Verdasco-Lopez lost).

The victory in the doubles event helped the Argentine team gain a certain excitement, at the same time creating a lot of pressure on the Spanish team and Rafael Nadal himself.

However, with great expectations placed on him, Rafael Nadal failed to satisfy all fans, when he convincingly came back against Juan Martin del Potro.

After unexpectedly losing 1-6 to Del Potro in the first set, Nadal proved his mettle on his favorite court and won the next 3 sets with the scores 6-4, 6-1, 7-6 (0), thereby winning the final 3-1.

With Rafael Nadal's victory, the Spanish team has successfully defeated Argentina in the 2011 Davis Cup final with a score of 3-1, to win the championship for the 5th time in the history of the tournament. This is also the 3rd time in the last 4 years they have done this (2008, 2009, 2011).

Jubilant after the victory, Rafael Nadal happily said: "We played well and had a sweet victory in the last tournament of the season. The whole team wants to dedicate this title to all the Spanish people."
